Friday 23 October 2020 Emily - “I want to be a teacher who creates memories†Hello, my name is Emily and I am a trainee teacher at Prestolee SCITT. The reason I am training to become a primary school teacher is because no one believed in me or inspired me to follow my dreams as a child. Throughout school, I didn’t have the most enjoyable experience therefore; I want to be a teacher who creates memories. I want to be able to give children learning experience and an environment where the children can thrive. I know becoming a primary teacher is my destiny and I am now only 9 months away from my dream becoming a reality.

Friday 16 October 2020 Aida - “I am now super excited to continue my journey with Prestolee†My passion and inspiration for teaching came from my mother who is a retired teacher herself, her determination, drive and enthusiasm encouraged me to want to make a positive impact on children’s lives. Since then teaching has been a passion of mine and knowing that I can make a difference to a child’s education has encouraged me to start my teaching journey with Prestolee SCITT. Having worked as a nursery manager, supervisor, HLTA in schools and taught abroad I now believe that I am ready to take this next step and fulfil my career ambition. After completing my BA (Hons) in Early childhood studies, Early years professional status and having a little boy of my own I want to be a positive role model to young children and show them how important education is.

Friday 9 October 2020 Erin - “This year, I have finally begun my journey into teaching†My name is Erin, I am 24 years old and I am a Trainee Teacher at Prestolee SCITT! I remember being eight years old, sat in my classroom at primary school and being mesmerised by the role of my teacher; wanting to know everything and anything about what her role involved. It is definitely fair to say that I had a love of learning instilled into me from a very young age! This is something that I have carried with me through to my adult life, have always wanted to infuse into the younger generation, and have been lucky enough to pass this on to my two-year-old son – he loves to learn! This year, I have finally begun my journey into teaching.

One of my fondest memories growing up, was using my chalk board to teach my friends. I never imagined that one day I would be training to become a real-life teacher. I am extremely excited for the year ahead!

Wednesday 1 January 2020 Joe - "Bring It!" I know the above phrase (quite possibly of American origin) works as a sort of verbal throwing-down-of-the-gauntlet. With regard to the path towards QTS status, and a PGCE, this is most definitely relevant. Enthusiasm and passion is essential, and at the beginning of the course, the sheer scale of the journey ahead can be daunting. Passion is the fuel that, I suspect, will see you through to its completion. However, there is another interpretation of ‘bringing it’ that has become very apparent to me since I began working in schools 18 months ago, and then began training at Prestolee ITT…
