Aida – “I am now super excited to continue my journey with Prestolee”
My passion and inspiration for teaching came from my mother who is a retired teacher herself, her determination, drive and enthusiasm encouraged me to want to make a positive impact on children’s lives. Since then teaching has been a passion of mine and knowing that I can make a difference to a child’s education has encouraged me to start my teaching journey with Prestolee SCITT. Having worked as a nursery manager, supervisor, HLTA in schools and taught abroad I now believe that I am ready to take this next step and fulfil my career ambition. After completing my BA (Hons) in Early childhood studies, Early years professional status and having a little boy of my own I want to be a positive role model to young children and show them how important education is.
As you can imagine I was extremely nervous to start my teacher training this year with the current worldwide situation but Prestolee have been incredibly supportive and the guidance I have received has been amazing! All the staff have been encouraging and have made me feel at ease, I am now super excited to continue my journey with Prestolee and become a great teacher! I am looking forward to starting my school placement and know that I will get the help and support I need.
Due to the current Covid situation all our lectures have been online via an app called zoom and although this isn’t usually the norm it has been amazing being able to work from the comfort of your own home and knowing that Prestolee are keeping us safe! The app enables us to ask questions and work in groups via a breakout room, it sometimes feels like I am in the lecture in person. All the lecturers have been great and have ensured that we are taking regular breaks as it can get a little intense sitting in front of a screen most of the day. Most communication with lecturers and tutors is done via emails and all staff respond in a timely manner. Prestolee have adapted the course to make things as comfortable as possible for all students and have not let Covid get in the way of them delivering and providing an excellent service and course!
